Students Responsible Use

Rules for ICT Rooms

The school owns the computer system. These rules will help us to be fair to others and keep everyone safe.

1. I will NOT enter/remain in the room without supervision from my subject teacher.

2. I will REMAIN seated in the seat assigned to me by the teacher.

3. I will NOT bring any FOOD or DRINKS into the room with me.

4. I will only use the network login and password supplied to me.

5. I will not look at, change or delete other people’s files or delete or copy desktop icons.

6. I will ask permission before using the printers.

7. I will not bring in my personal software, disks, MP3 player, mobile phone, PDA, laptop or personal digital devices into the computer room.

8. I will ask permission before using the Internet.

9. I will tell the teacher if I see a problem with any computer .

10. I will NOT download software from the Internet.

11. I will NOT use obscene, profane or abusive language.

12. I will NOT use email/Internet chat without the approval of my teacher.

13. I will NOT create, display or transmit material that is fraudulent or otherwise unlawful or inappropriate.

14. I will tell my teacher immediately if I see anything I am unhappy with or I receive messages I do not like.

15. I will NOT use the school’s ICT for unruly or threatening behaviour towards other students or school staff.

16. Excessive noise (talking, loud music) that interferes with other users is Prohibited.

17. I will NOT use unreasonable behaviour (for example using ICT facilities for games, chats etc. when others cannot access a system to carry out study related work).

18. The school exercise its right to monitor/check my use of the computer files/systems, including access to web-sites, the interception of e-mail and the deleting of inappropriate materials where it believes unauthorised use of the school’s computer system is or may be taking place, or the system is or may be being used for harmful or criminal purposes or for storing harmful, unauthorised or unlawful text or imagery.

19. I understand that if I deliberately break these rules, I may NOT be allowed to use the computers or the Internet.
